In 2016-2017 Sero worked with Angela Sanders Consulting on research to inform the Education and Training Foundation’s (ETF) Digital Skills Enhancement Programme. The aim of the research was to confirm the skills that all FE teachers would need to deliver ICT qualifications at level 2. The resulting report was used to inform the content of the online modules that ETF would later commission for their Enhance Digital Teaching Platform.
The methodology involved focused desk research and a qualitative review of stakeholder documents; identifying and analysing data to confirm ICT skills expectations of future employers of FE students; and to confirm any changes planned through the reform of functional skills. We developed a matrix of evidence both confirming and identifying gaps in skills set against the indicative content around research undertaken by British Computer Society in 2014.
